Farm-to-School Grower Highlight -
October is National Farm-to-School Month, students at Tri-County enjoy a variety of local fresh fruit and vegetables daily throughout the year, when in season. Today students and staff enjoyed mashed potatoes and gravy with their popcorn chicken at lunch. The russet potatoes used to make the mashed potatoes (no instant mashed potatoes here) were grown by Midwestern Potatoes, students also enjoy them as baked potatoes. The students and staff at Tri-County also recently enjoyed roasted creamer potatoes grown by Taterland Farms. Thank-You again to all of our local growers that provide fresh local fruits and vegetables to the students of Tri-County.

Mrs. Detlor’s 2nd Graders are part of Wisconsin's Adopt a Cow Program. Last week, they learned that Vision Aire Farms, LLC in Eldorado, WI, is their host farm for this school year. Today, these enthusiastic 2nd graders got to officially meet their adopted Holstein calf, Lexi. Lexi was born on September 12th, weighing 110 pounds and standing at 29 inches. Farmer Janet will keep them updated every couple of months, filling them in on Lexi's growth, diet, and activities. They're charting Lexi's growth and are ready to learn more and watch her grow. These 2nd graders seriously couldn't be more excited! #adoptacow #lexithecalf #wisconsindairyindustry #agriculture #2ndgradeROCKS
